Plum brings an old building back to life — and we're dying to move in!

Rich Schmig, president of Plum Media, breaks ground on Plum’s new facility Friday, March 3 at 3 p.m.

Out With the Old

After 20 years in the Historic Third Ward, Plum is moving to a 15,000 square-foot building at 1418 W. St. Paul Avenue. “We like what’s happening in the Menomonee Valley. Everyone at Plum is excited to be part of growth in this area of Milwaukee,” Schmig said.

The new location is the former Milwaukee Casket Company in the Menomonee Valley. Things have changed a bit since the building's construction in 1929, but with its stone accents and original signage, the two-story structure possesses the character and authenticity Plum values.

A Growing Family

Plum has a staff of 20 employees, but plans to grow even more. The newly renovated space will give Plum the extra room to install advanced video production facilities, live web streaming capabilities, and an expansive broadcast production studio.

The new building is expected to be up and running by the end of 2017.

Today’s the day we’ve been waiting for for what seems like forever. It’s a new beginning for Plum and it’s going to happen right here in the Menomonee Valley in that building. That’s the old Milwaukee Casket Company. Yes, you heard me right, a casket company. Okay, we’re going to make a few changes, you know us, but this is going to become a fun, exciting and creative place for us to work. Let the transformation begin!
